My now wife contacted me on Mate1. We fell in love and were married this past January. I am 74 and she is 62 and we are crazy for each other. However, although I have hidden my profile on Mate1, I still occasionally get some woman (always young) that wants to chat. They are always an ambassadore and I feel it is just a come on to try and get me to rejoin.

Mate-1 is a scam! I put my profile on just to see what would happen…I did not join. I have had over 21 emails from girls all over the country and none of them fit my profile. Plus I am out of their age requirement. These are scams to try to get me to join. If you want an honest site go to passion.com they have so many members they don’t need any scams.

I submitted the basic profile - no added description, interests, etc. - and am currently a ‘guest’ user. Interestingly, within twenty-four hours I received notices of three emails: Chicago, Aspen, and a location purportedly within my home State. Unfortunately, the location named in the email does not exist in my State as a town, city, village, county, or any other entity recognized by the office of the Secretary of State. Okay - maybe it’s actually someone’s driveway. I would strongly suggest that Mate1 at least try to use the names of existing State-recognized entities.

This site is not honest. All contacts I received are fake. Mate1 sended to me to make me full member.
It said 3-trial for 1,95$, if you dont cancel within these 3 days, You are automaticly billed 45$,,,,This is not honest.
In fact, mate1 doesn’t post the price of full membership on the site.
Money thats import this site.

I agree, Mate1 is a scam. I used it for six months and only met one person, who was crazy and kept confusing me with someone else! Every time I decided to stop my membership I suddenly got these emails, I soon realised they were all Online Ambassadors working for Mate1 trying to con me into joining up again and paying more mugs’ money. I suspect half the women on there are fake - there are far too many attractive model types who cannot be desperate for male company none of whom give you the time of day so it is a waste. I cancelled my membership two months ago and in that time have had about 30 emails - all from Online Ambassadors! Of course to see what they have written I would have to join up again - no chance. Take my advice and avoid this site like the plague!

Unlike other dating sites Mate1 labels their “bait” as “online ambassadors” so members can decide if its worth paying to read mail from it or not. When I joined mate1 the full membership price was mentioned in small print on the credit card page.

Mate1 is the typical bad dating site which does everything possible to keep you from reaching its promised goal. It is poorly designed in every respect other than the parts designed to drain your bank account. It’s often accused of predatory billing practices and flimsy automated come-ons from shill members known as “Ambassadors”. The rest of the industry just calls them “bots”. Eventually after you quit their game and orphan your profile Mate1 will sell your address to the spam gangs. My full report is filed here:

Mate1 is a TOTAL SCAM. I start falling for this “babe” (whatever?), all kinds of excuses when asking for another pic, trying to discuss anything with depth. I got sucked into these 3 hour chats about nothing? Anyways, I did not buy into the OA (online ambassador) but just fell for one of the “model type” pics. Your mind can really play games when communication starts with your “new babe”. It all seems “too good to be true” and it is!
The REALLY SAD thing is that I’m on there because with the business start-up i’m involved with I just don’t have time for dating or (for internet games). Oh well, i tried. BEWARE: of the scam, The 1.95 intro is a scam. Way down at the bottom of the email you find out they bill you 49.95 if you don’t “cancel” a 3 day trial. (WHY do you have to cancel a trial) This is deceptive and I will have credit card charge back, this is fraud. The “model” keeps you “chatting” long enough to get u over the “trial”. Scam, Scam Scam.

After rejoining this site for the second time, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that it is a total ripoff and scam. Like alot of others have said, I often get contacts from OA’s and members way younger than I specified. I agree that Mate 1 does everything they can to scam members and I will never rejoin!!

I have been on Mate1 for over a year and have found it to be a lot of fun. Yes, it is true that the Online Ambassadors are there to keep you paying, but I always ignore them. I get enough response without them.
Yes it is true that it is about $50 per month, but this is truly a website that you can find a good wife on. This is because many of the women, especially the foreign bred ones are very very serious about finding a mate. This is not the site for casual meeting. You just have to know which emails to ignore. Fortunately those girls who just want entrance to the USA, will actually tell you.
It is best to report the scammer emails, which come at least one per week. This does not make the site look good. Because I have gotten my past 2 girlfriends from Mate1 and am still dating seriously one of them and the other I turned into a friend, I would say that it is worth it. IF you want a beautiful girl from mate1, you will have to get one from far away and sometimes from another country. Note that neither of my 2 girlfriends, both within the last year, lived more than 30 miles away. Neither of these girls are ugly and both are very very sweet in many ways. It takes time and the website has its disadvantages.
The one thing I hate about the site is that they delete email addresses when you put it in an email to anyone who requests it. I’ve gotten over it, by getting it coded or getting the girls phone number.
Well, I may drop the site, but right now I’m still having much fun with it. Watch out for the “OA” denotation on any letter sent by a women…ignore these, they are a waste of time. If you only get mail from OA’s, don’t stay on the site or change your profile.
If you are not willing to have a Canadian girl or an Asian girl or European girl who lives in the USA, Mate1 may not be good for getting attractive women. All the attractive girls are not originally from the USA, but you American men should know better than to waste your time with most beautiful American women. They can’t cook, can’t make a decent living and can’t take care of their men. And many of them are on anti-depressants, alcohol or other drugs. I would only recommend this site to men who are serious and don’t mind getting emails from foreigners. I know I have enjoyed them tremendously. You can ask my girlfriend to vouch for that.

i found out how horrid it was, but tried to not be cynical and gave in to one month subscription.
Jesus, my credit card doesn’t usually get internet activity so they called just to make sure I made the purchase… They called to verify that I “signed up for an escort service”!!?!?!?!? Holy shit… do you know how much trouble this site can cause pretending to be just a dating site?
And since I already got hosed by these bastards, where’s my escort??! hah
kidding, of course.

Mate1 is a SCAM!!!
I’ve tried the 3 day for 1.95$ and I’ve got so many email and chat request. The only problem is all of them were from girl from country that I don’t even know were they are!!
I’m from Vancouver BC Canada and the nearest email or chat request, of the dozens received, was from Florida.
Mate1 = SCAM
