This blog is very popular, and as is the nature of such blogs, it attracts ridiculous amounts of comment spam.

Obviously I use a spam blocker, but that doesn’t stop all comment spam; in particular, it cannot stop comment spam entered by hand. Since this is the case, the following comment policy applies:

Any comment you write may be deleted without warning at any time if I consider it to be spam. If your comment contains a link to an unrelated site or you provide a URL that is not related to the comment or the corresponding material in the post to which you are commenting, it is likely to be considered comment spam. The editor’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning matters of this nature.

Comments may be edited, in which case the fact that the comment has been edited will be made clear. This is only done where comments contain profanity or language likely to be deemed insulting, degrading, or otherwise of an unnaceptable nature, particularly if it is directed to another person. If profanity is used, this may be automatically censored, in which case it will not be automatically clear that your comment has been edited.
